According to KSAT, Godfather’s Pizza has returned to San Antonio after closing its only remaining location in the city at Lackland Air Force Base in 2016.

Franchisee Levi Rodgers has reintroduced the concept to the city, opening a new outpost on the West Side at 8530 TX-151 — near establishments such as Black Bear Diner, Chuy’s, and Main Event San Antonio — in late June.

“I stumbled back across Godfather’s Pizza on a road trip to Oregon with my fiancé,” Rodgers tells the Journal.

”We were there to see the waterfalls and ended up finding a piece of my past I thought was gone for good. I knew right then we had to bring it home to San Antonio,” he continues.

What Now San Antonio reached out to Rodgers to inquire about his expansion plans, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, he tells the Journal that he intends to open an additional Godfather’s outpost in the Alamo City “every six months.”

For readers who are unfamiliar with Godfather’s Pizza, the concept was founded in Omaha in 1973. By 1974, they began franchising and by 1982, had expanded to 632 franchise locations, “making it the second-largest pizza chain in the U.S. during this period,” according to its website. Today, Godfather’s Pizza operates around 600 locations, predominantly across the Midwest.

The addresses and opening dates of the upcoming locations have not been announced yet. Stay tuned for updates.
