According to Herald Zeitung, virtual tea shop Gruene Tea Haus is debuting a brick-and-mortar location in New Braunfels.

Coming to 2327 Gruene Lake Drive, the shop will land near establishments such as Kora Kora Coffee, Love Story Boutique, and Naturally Cafe.

Local teacher and co-founder of the concept, Albert Luna — who operates the business alongside his wife Casey Luna — tells the journal, “We were at a marriage retreat about six months ago, and I just had this calling that this would be a good idea since we were both lovers of tea and there isn’t a tea store in town.”

He adds, “Tea is like the second-class citizen in a coffee shop; they might have a couple of different categories of tea. … I think one of the reasons we wanted to open a tea store was just so tea lovers would have a place to congregate and share their love of tea.”

For readers who are unfamiliar with Gruene Tea Haus, the concept debuted in January 2024 and still exists as an online tea shop — where patrons can purchase tea infusers and choose from a tea selection that spans across white, green, oolong, black, pu’er, yellow, rooibos, herbal, and blooming teas.

At the upcoming physical location, locals can expect a coffee shop-style set up — “We’re gonna have sit-down tea, but we’re also gonna do retail,” Albert shares. “At the counter, there’s gonna be a sniffing table, essentially a table that’s gonna have all of our teas,” he continues.

Additionally, the menu will boast “tea-infused baked goods” to eat.

Gruene Tea Haus on Gruene Lake Drive is slated to open later this spring. Stay tuned for updates.
