According to MySA, local concept Hotaru Sushi plans to debut a new location in San Antonio.
Coming to Make Ready Market at 203 8th Street — located just a few steps from the River Walk — the eatery will join the lineup alongside existing tenants, including the recently opened ice cream shop Spooniverse, the Tex-Mex spot Teka Molino, and Thai Bird.
Hotaru Sushi & Hibachi’s owner, Rebecca Thang, tells What Now San Antonio, “We heard about Make Ready Market and we went to take a look at the location. It’s in Downtown… we just thought sushi would be such a great addition.”
“We only have one location, it’s in the Dominion area. This is going to be the second one,” she continues.
Thang adds, “We’re not going to have hibachi because of the way the market is made.” Instead, she says that the business will offer prepackaged, grab-and-go options. “But we’re looking forward to expanding this kind of style,” she elaborates, explaining that the business is interested in pursuing additional opportunities in this sector.
For readers who are unfamiliar with Hotaru Sushi, the family-owned concept offers a brief introduction on its website, sharing, “Our sushi chefs are trained in the traditional methods of sushi making, using only the freshest and highest quality ingredients.”
“In addition to sushi, we also offer a variety of other Japanese dishes such as teriyaki, tempura, and noodles. We have something for everyone, whether you’re a sushi aficionado or trying it for the first time.”
Hotaru Sushi is slated to open later this month. Follow What Now San Antonio on Facebook for updates.
