According to a recently submitted permit application, a new eatery listed as Shogun is gearing up to open in San Antonio.

Coming to 111 SW Loop 410, the eatery will land near Chipotle Mexican Grill, MOD Pizza, and Twin Peaks.

“It was an existing restaurant, but the whole thing is being changed over,” the concept’s owner, Phillip Wimer, tells What Now San Antonio.

The filing discloses that renovations will include an “addition to an existing 1-story restaurant building for additional seating capacity” and that they are scheduled to begin on February 2 and finish on April 15, 2025. The project will be carried out by Frisco-based firm Seven-D-Four for an estimated $90,000.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the chain, Wimer shares, “Shogan is a sushi and hibachi grill restaurant” founded 23 years ago that currently operates over 20 locations across Houston — he adds, “We started the first one in the Woodlands, a suburb of Houston.”

When asked about an opening date, Wimer shares, “Right now they’re still approving plans with the city, we haven’t started construction yet,” but he’s hoping for a spring 2025 debut.
