The name Julian in Julian’s Pizza & More may sound familiar to you; that’s because it is. Julian Solis and his family are currently operating three pizzerias in San Antonio. This new eatery, set to open its doors in Southtown in mid-October, according to MYSA, is a new concept created with the help of his children.

“We’re super excited. My dad, Julian, has been wanting to get into that part of town for a little over three or four years, since everything kinda started booming down there,”  Cole Solis said.

Cole confirmed with What Now San Antonio that you can expect to see the new establishment open in two weeks.

He, along with his sister and Julian’s daughter, Hannah, is helping get the new pizza spot open at 620 S. Presa St.

The building Julian’s Pizza & More will live in is a historic structure that’s changed hands a few times since it was built in 1960. Prior to the Solis family taking over the lease, California-based Mexican hot dog joint, Barrio Dog, was serving the community out of the Presa St. building.

“The people who were in there before us had done a lot of changes to the building already. But, they kept the core the same,” Cole said.

“We kept all of that stuff, we just kind of put our twist to it, and it goes well with that Italian rustic theme.”

While Julian’s Pizza & More is a new concept for the Solis family, Cole shares that it will honor the founders and their three Julian’s Italian Pizzeria & Kitchen locations in more ways than one.

“This is a new concept we’re doing. But, it’s going to be most of the same recipes that we have at our current locations,” Cole said.

The Solis family opened the first Julian’s Italian Pizzeria & Kitchen in May of 2006, featuring classic Italian favorites like pizzas, pastas, and fresh salads.

Julian’s Pizza & More will serve up many of these cherished family-made items and more. Cole shared that Julian’s Pizza & More will also have new subs, like Sam’s Grinder Sub, a hot honey pizza, a pesto pizza, and a full bar offering mixed drinks.

“We’re excited to get in there and cater to the neighborhood and meet all of our new customers,” Cole said.

In addition, the new eatery will have a small Italian Market that will sell various Italian goods, like Italian olive oils, pasta, Italian wines, and drinks.

The website for Julian’s Pizza & More shows the family gearing up for opening and is currently looking for front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house staff.

“We do not have a hard open date or grand opening date set, but we will definitely be open before the month of October is over,” Cole said.

While the focus is on getting the doors of Julian’s Pizza & More open at the 620 S. Presa St. historic site by mid-October, Cole says more pizzerias like the ones his family has been at the helm of are likely to spring up in the near future.

“My dad would love to open more locations! There’s always stuff on the horizon,” Cole said.
