According to the San Antonio Business Journal, Spurs Sports and Entertainment is adding a new set of concepts to its Culinary Residency Program at Frost Bank Center, one of which is Cake Llama — a local bakery concept known for cake pops and giving back to the community.
“The parent company of the NBA Spurs is extending its reach into the local culinary market, growing the program from eight to 12 diverse Alamo City restaurants that will have an opportunity to showcase their signature dishes inside the East Side arena,” the Journal reports.
For readers who are unfamiliar with The Spurs Culinary Residency Program, the associate director of culinary experience for SS&E, Kevin Barker, describes it as “more than just a showcase of delicious food; it’s a celebration of the stories and passion behind each local business.”
He continues, “By expanding the program and involving fans in the selection process, we want to highlight the unique narratives and culinary traditions that make San Antonio’s food scene so special.”
Cake Llama’s owner, Alyssa Young, tells What Now San Antonio that the business was founded at the end of 2019 and centers on employing individuals hoping “to get their lives back on track.”
“It gives so many people the opportunity to pay it forward and for people to come to gather food if they’re really in need,” she shares.
