According to a recently submitted permit application, the national chain Hawaiian Bros — known for its plate lunch specials, featuring a marinated protein served alongside rice and macaroni salad — is expanding its footprint in Texas, planning to debut a new 2,337-square-foot outpost in San Antonio next spring.
Coming to 1434 Austin Highway, the fast-casual eatery will land near establishments such as Panda Express, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers, and Walmart Supercenter.
What Now San Antonio reached out to the location’s franchisee, Christopher Aslam of Rock Hawaiian LLC, to inquire about his plans for the upcoming restaurant; however, he could not provide additional information before publication.
Nevertheless, the filing reveals that construction of the “new ground-up” Hawaiian Bros is scheduled to begin on February 1, 2026, and is expected to be completed on May 1. The Fond du Lac, Wisconsin-based firm Excel Engineering, Inc., will manage the project, and it will cost an estimated $1,600,000 to build.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the history of the franchise, Hawaiian Bros was founded in 2018 by brothers Cameron and Tyler McNie in Belton, Missouri. Today, it’s headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, and operates over 60 locations across Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Oregon.
