According to MySA, the national restaurant chain Kona Grill — a fusion restaurant concept featuring American, Japanese, and Mexican cuisine — plans to debut a new outpost in north San Antonio.
Coming to 5603 Presidio Parkway, taking over a space formerly home to Bar-B-Cutie Smokehouse, the eatery will land near establishments such as Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, the Tex-Mex restaurant Chuy’s, and the miniature golf course PopStroke.
For readers who haven’t dined at a Kona Grill, the menu features various cuts of steak — such as prime rib served with horseradish cream and New York strip topped with bearnaise sauce — and seafood-centric entrees including sweet chili-glazed salmon, miso-saké Chilean sea bass served alongside baby bok choy, and shrimp tacos. Handheld options include hamburgers, sea bass sliders, and a BBQ chicken flatbread. A range of sushi and sashimi is also offered.
Beverage options include margaritas, signature cocktails such as the espresso martini, the Moscow mule, and the saké sangria, as well as a large selection of beer and wine.
Kona Sushi was founded in 1998 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The national restaurant company is presently headquartered in Denver and operates 23 locations across Arizona, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Texas, and Utah.
What Now San Antonio reached out to the company’s founder, Celeste Fierro, as well as President and CEO Manny Hilario, to learn more about the expansion; however, they could not provide additional information before publication.
