According to MySA, James Beard Award semifinalist Marcus Baskerville plans to debut a new concept in Alamo City, Fresh.

“I wanted an elevated bar and lounge experience with affordable cocktails and craft brews,” Baskerville tells MySA.

However, where exactly the drinkery will land in the downtown area hasn’t been announced yet.

“Teasing a hidden speakeasy as part of the concept’s experience to MySA, Baskerville added that the space will have a 90s vibe in terms of ambience. In terms of bar bites, Fresh will have elevated soul food, with a primary focus on fried chicken,” MySA reports.

For readers who are unfamiliar with Baskerville, he is also the author of Wood Barrel and Time: The Art of Barrel Aging and was a co-founder and the head brewer at Weathered Souls Brewing Co. before leaving the company earlier this year.

Fresh is slated to open in 2025. Stay tuned for updates.
