Local restaurant chain Nicha’s Comida Mexicana’s spot at 3119 Roosevelt Avenue — near Fruteria La Mission, Mission Marquee Plaza, and Tio’s BBQ — is currently “closed for repairs,” according to a sign outside of the eatery.

“If you try to visit that location today, you’ll find that the parking lot is filled with the vehicles of construction works and contractors rather than customers,” MySA reports.

What Now San Antonio reached out to the owner of Nicha’s, Arthur Garcia, to inquire about the improvements, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

For readers who are unfamiliar with Nicha’s, the family-owned concept was founded in 1977 as Minit Taco in San Antonio’s Southside. Since becoming Nicha’s, the restaurant has expanded to three locations — one of which is Minit Taco’s original Roosevelt Avenue spot.

While Nicha’s on Roosevelt is closed until further notice, locals can still dine at the outpost off NW Loop 410, as well as its location off West Avenue near Wurzbach Parkway.

Stay tuned for updates.
