According to a recently submitted construction permit application, San Antonio’s NOLA — known for “classic New Orleans brunch fare & a variety of beignets served in a relaxed cafe with live jazz” — is planning to open a second location in the city.

Coming to 1101 Broadway, the eatery will land near Commonwealth Coffeehouse & Bakery, Elsewhere Garden Bar & Kitchen, the and River Sun cocktail bar sometime next year.

For readers who are unfamiliar with NOLA, the concept began as a food truck called Where Y’at in 2012, founded by husband and wife team Pieter and Susan Sypesteyn

“Born and raised in New Orleans, Pieter missed the food of his childhood and decided since he couldn’t go home, he would bring it to San Antonio. For Sypesteyn, a lack of breakfast options other than awesome breakfast tacos was what prompted him to look into opening his own spot,” the eatery shares on its website.

An opening date has not been announced yet, so follow NOLA on Facebook and Instagram for updates — and visit the restaurant at 720 E. Mistletoe Avenue to satiate any cravings for a New Orleans-style brunch that arise in the meantime.
