PopUp Bagels is embarking on a major expansion into the Greater San Antonio region. The Connecticut-based booming bagel chain announced in a news release that the brand is planning to bring at least 12 locations to Houston, Austin, and San Antonio.
The brand, known for its “grip, rip, and dip” style, has locations in areas like Manhattan, Massachusetts, and, of course, its home state of Connecticut.
PopUp Bagels was founded in 2020 in Westport, Connecticut, by Adam Goldberg and Jeff Lewis. The pandemic-driven, backyard hobby that turned into a brand gained a cult following for its “hot bagel” model.
There are now more than 15 PopUp Bagels locations operating, with current franchisee agreements to open 300 new locations across 10 states. The goal is to reach a hundred open locations by the end of 2027. The brand is starting its big Texas debut in Dallas, MYSA reports.
What Now San Antonio reached out to owner Adam Goldberg and CEO Tory Bartlett to find out more details about the San Antonio debut, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.
While the release offered no timeline for the San Antonio expansion, PopUp Bagels’ Texas partner, Don Meji, is already setting up shop in Houston. The brand should make its debut in H-Town by this spring.
Meji confirmed with What Now San Antonio that he is indeed the franchisee for San Antonio.
“I am the Franchisee for Texas, Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri,” Meji said via text.
With expansion plans in place and a timeline for a hundred openings by the end of 2027, we suspect the PopUp Bagels San Antonio debut to take place before the end of 2027.
