According to a recently submitted permit application, Portillo’s Hot Dogs — a chain known for its Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, and cake shakes — plans to debut a new outpost in New Braunfels.

Coming to the SWC of FM 306 and Sophie Lane, the eatery will land near establishments such as Avery’s Kitchen, Lone Star Lounge, and Teufel Hunden.

What Now San Antonio reached out to Marc Miller, the Vice President of Operations at Portillo’s Hot Dogs, but he could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, the filing offers further insight.

Construction of the 6,250-square-foot “ground up, quick service restaurant with multi-occupant restrooms, indoor and outdoor seating, [with] drive-thru,” is scheduled to begin on April 14, 2025, and be completed on September 14.

For an estimated $6,000,000, the project will be carried out by Allen, Texas-based firm PM Design Group, Inc.

An opening date has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for updates.
