According to a recently submitted permit application, a new restaurant and bar called The Underdog is preparing to open in San Antonio’s Far Westside.
Taking over a 3,500-square-foot suite at 12922 Potranco Road, 103 — a new tenant at the 44,000-square-foot retail center, Potranco-Reid Ranch South, per public records — the eatery will soon be neighbored by establishments such as Church’s Texas Chicken, Mexican Cowboy Street Kitchen, and Killer Burger.
“We are going to have big TVs… we are going to play sports,” owner Prabhjeet Singh tells What Now San Antonio. He adds, however, that he’s not calling it a sports bar, and intends, instead, for The Underdog to be “a little more upscale.”
The menu will feature American food favorites, including burgers, wings, pizza, chicken strips, and a selection of appetizers such as nachos and loaded fries. Cocktails and beer will be on the beverage menu.
Singh emphasizes that The Underdog will offer affordable options and, before happy hour, will operate as a “family-friendly establishment” with “lunch specials available for the family.”
Per the filing, renovations are scheduled to begin on September 1 and to be completed by December 1, and local firm Meca Architecture will carry out the project.
Restaurant and bar The Underdog on Potranco Road is slated to open before the end of the year. Follow What Now San Antonio on Facebook for updates.
