Roadrunner Cafe, a “student cafeteria serving quick meals” on the UTSA campus, is undergoing renovations.

According to a recent construction permit application, “a large portion of the patio space on an existing dining facility will be demolished and rebuilt using a new design,” however, “about 880 square feet of existing patio concrete will remain, as well as the overhead steel trellis structure.”

Construction on the 8,400-square-foot cafeteria began on December 12, 2022, and will be completed by August 15, 2023. The work is being carried out by CARBO Landscape Architecture, a Baton Rouge-based firm that frequently works with universities in the region, and is estimated to cost $782,700 in total.

What Now San Antonio reached out to Lee Myers, the Director of Campus Services Facilities and Partner Management, but he was unable to provide additional information before the time of publication.

When Roadrunner Cafe plans to reopen hasn’t been made clear, so follow UTSA Dining on Facebook for additional updates.
