According to a recently submitted permit application, San Antonio’s Gunter Hotel — located at 205 East Houston Street, near establishments such as Dorrego’s, Naranja Tequila, and Mezcal Bar — is undergoing renovations.

What Now San Antonio contacted the inn’s owner, Jiwon Choi, to inquire about the updates, but she could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, the filing describes the project as the “renovation of [an] existing historic hotel to include: full renovation to all public spaces and 300 guest rooms (including accessible guest rooms) and renovation to [the] existing bar and restaurant.”

Additionally, as What Now San Antonio previously reported, Choi — who is also a Paris Baguette franchisee — intends to debut a Paris Baguette at the hotel.

“One main reason for bringing Paris Baguette here was to activate the street corner — not only for our hotel but also for downtown San Antonio. We’re located on two very prominent intersections with significant foot traffic,” Choi shares in a press release.

A reopening date has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for updates.
