According to a recently submitted permit application, Smokey Mo’s plans to debut a new outpost in Schertz.

Coming to 18430 I-35 N Frontage Road, the eatery will land near establishments such as Dunkin’, QuikTrip, and Willie’s Grill & Icehouse.

What Now San Antonio reached out to the president of Smokey Mo’s, Craig Haley, as well as the franchisee, Roger Harris, to inquire about their plans for the upcoming location, but they could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, the filing reveals that the interior finish-out of the 2,800-square-foot space is scheduled to begin on July 11 and finish on January 1, 2026. For an estimated $700,000, the work will be carried out by local firm Villa Park.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the concept, the barbeque joint offers a brief introduction on its website: “Smokey Mo’s TX BBQ has all your Texas BBQ favorites, smoked in-house every day by our expert pitmasters. Seasoned with our signature Smokey Mo’s dry rub, our brisket, chicken, sausage, turkey, and pork are seasoned, juicy, and perfect on their own or topped with our unique Smokey Mo’s BBQ sauce, a savory sauce with a depth of flavor and a little kick.”

The business currently operates 21 locations across Texas cities, including Cedar Park, Round Rock, Austin, San Antonio, Spring Branch, New Braunfels, and Conroe.

An opening date has not been announced yet. Stay tuned for updates.
