Smoothie King is set to open a new location, which is expected to The Shops at Babcock at 15031 Babcock Road, Suite 142. According to a recently filed permit, construction on the new drink joint is expected to start in November of this year and wrap up in February of next year.

The tenant listed on the permit is Joanne Hilliard, who is a San Antonio Smoothie King franchisee. According to LinkedIn, Hilliard has been operating Smoothie King locations as a franchisee for more than a decade.

What Now San Antonio reached out to Hillard for comment on the opening, but did not get a response at the time of publication.

The new Smoothie King is expected to offer all of its usual offerings. Besides the plethora of smoothies, that you can add a power boost of chia seeds to, the blended drink spot also offers a variety of avocado toasts and protein boxes.

Smoothie King has been operating since 1973. According to the drinks and snacks eatery’s website, Smoothie King was founded in New Orleans, Louisiana. It opened its first franchise location in 1989. Since then, it’s grown to have locations across the country and internationally, with spots in Korea, Grand Cayman, and Trinidad.

The new Smoothie King in Bexar County will live in a fairly new retail center. The Shops at Babcock sits near the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) with 13,000 square feet of new businesses. You can expect a variety of shops near the new Smoothie King, including a pizza spot, coffee shop, and martial arts studio.

While there is no official opening or grand opening set for the new Smoothie King at The Shops at Babcock, if all goes well with construction, the new smoothie shop should be open by March 2026 at 15031 Babcock Road, Suite 142.
