Novo Brazil Brewing Co., a California-based brewery, has plans to open its first out-of-market location in San Antonio, according to San Diego Beer News. The new spot will be located inside the North Star Mall at 7400 San Pedro Ave, just 10 miles from downtown San Antonio, where it will make a home nearby tenants like Blue Star Brewing Co. and Kona Grill.
What Now Media Group reached out to founder and owner Tiago Carneiro, but he was not immediately available for comment.
Founded in 1999, Novo Brewery has been steadily expanding in its hometown market in Southern California. It has locations two locations in Chula Vista, one in San Diego, and plans more. What Now Media previously reported on the brewery’s planned expansions in the SoCal area.
In San Antonio, the brewery has plans for a 10,000-square-foot destination where Texans will get their first taste of the Brazil-inspired brewery’s unique flavors. Their menu has year-round and seasonal offerings, and the brand has expanded to include alcoholic and non-alcoholic kombucha as well.
In an interview with San Diego Beer News, restaurant founder Tiago Carneiro said the company’s focus was still in southern California.
“San Antonio is a standalone location that we see as a business opportunity to replicate our model,” Carneiro said in an interview with San Diego Beer News. “It’s is a city with a lot of potential for a brand like Novo to provide great food and high-quality beers.”
