Southtown’s Asian-inspired dining concept Hot Joy is relocating, leaving behind its South Alamo spot for a new space at 1101 Broadway — where it will land near establishments such as Elsewhere Garden Bar & Kitchen, El Camino, and NOLA Brunch & Beignets.

“1014 South Alamo has been Hot Joy’s home for the last 10 chaotic, sometimes crazy-good, sometimes crazy-bad, wild, loud, over-the-top, high-voltage years,” the business shares in a recent Instagram post.

What Now San Antonio reached out to Chad Carey, principal at Empty Stomach restaurant group, to inquire about his plans for the upcoming spot, but he could not provide additional information.

Nevertheless, Carey tells MySA, “It’s going to be a completely different, inverted version of Hot Joy… but we’re going to have a lot of things that we will be bringing over, design-wise, from the original.”

“We’re just really excited about the new space. We think being up in that neighborhood is going to be fun,” he continues — “Hopefully it’s everything that people like about Hot Joy with a whole bunch of new energy and new things happening there.”

Hot Joy on Broadway is slated to open in September. Follow the restaurant on Facebook for updates.
