Bamboo, Southtown’s “airy, industrial outpost offering a large menu of modern Chinese staples,” has relocated to a new spot in the neighborhood.

Taking over the former home of Jimmy’s Family Pizza at 226 E Fest Street, the eatery now neighbors establishments such as Il Forno, Künstler Brewing, and San Antonio Gold.

Owner Fred Sanchez tells What Now San Antonio that, while the eatery is already open exclusively for delivery and takeout, the dining room is under construction.

After renovations are finished — hopefully early this fall — Bamboo will be adding new plates and specials such as roasted and fried pork belly served alongside greens as well as on a banh mi, firecracker chicken, and enhanced wing recipes.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the concept, Bamboo describes itself as a “trendy spot offering fresh, affordable, delicious modern twists on Chinese staples,” on to its website

Since it opened on South Flores Street in 2018, it has become known for its American Chinese dishes — think appetizers such as cheese rangoons, eggrolls, dumplings, and soups, main plates including sweet & sour chicken, sesame steak, and general tso shrimp, as well as noodles, wings, chicken tenders, and a few dessert options.

Follow Bamboo on Facebook and Instagram for additional updates.
