SUYU Peruvian Cocina is bringing a unique experience to The Rim. Debuting at 17403 I-10, the new eatery offers a Japanese and Peruvian fusion that promises to be an immersive and one-of-a-kind experience.

According to a recently filed permit, construction on SUYU Peruvian Cocina is expected to start in January and wrap up in mid-July. The filing lists the AZ Group as the owner of the new restaurant. What Now San Antonio spoke with the AZ Group’s Sonya Nisbet, who confirmed that the group expects to open SUYU Peruvian Cocina by Summer 2026.

“SUYU offers an immersive journey into Peruvian Nikkei cuisine—where the bold,
vibrant flavors of Peru meet the refined precision of Japanese culinary artistry,” Nisbet wrote via email.

The hospitality group opened its first location in Madrid, Spain, this year and shares that there are plans to grow in the US.

SUYU offers a culinary journey through Nikkei cuisine, where Peruvian tradition meets Japanese flavors and flair.

“We’re all about bold flavors, creative flair, and a vibe that keeps you coming back for more,” Nisbet said.
“Whether you’re a flavor explorer or just here for a good time, SUYU brings you a dining experience full of color, culture, and culinary surprises. This is where good food meets great energy. Let’s make it unforgettable.”
On the menu, you’ll find everything from chicharron to gyoza. SUYU Peruvian Cocina offers a variety of seafood, soups, salads, and traditional dishes that you’ll have to try to believe. Your palate will explode with the variety of flavors the eatery blends. SUYU Peruvian Cocina’s extensive menu also includes wok, robatayi, and, of course, an assortment of Nikkei dishes.
“It’s more than a meal; it’s a harmonious blend of two culinary worlds, transporting you to a realm of fun and excitement,” Nisbet said.
