Taco Palenque, a fast-casual Mexican restaurant chain based in Laredo, is expanding its San Antonio footprint.

According to a recent construction permit application, the eatery is coming to 15333 San Pedro Avenue, taking over a 4,000-square-foot space that was formerly home to A Balanced Child PLLC — near establishments such as Bike World and Eurasian Auto Repair.

What Now San Antonio reached out to Franchisee Javier Peresbarbosa, but he was unable to provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, the filing provides further insight.

Taco Palenque plans to hire a Mission-based firm, CG5 Architect, to renovate the existing space for an estimated $750,000. Construction is anticipated to begin this August and be completed by September 2024.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the chain, Taco Palenque has been around since 1987 and is known for fast-casual Mexican food, or “Fresh Mex,” as they like to call it. Menu options include tacos, quesadillas, plates — think enchiladas, fajitas, and flautas — burritos, parrilladas, antojitos, bowls, salads, soups, and desserts. The eatery is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Ever-expanding, Taco Palenque has opened 33 outposts throughout Texas — and one in Monterrey.

An opening date for Taco Palenque on San Pedro Avenue has not yet been set. Stay tuned to the chain’s Facebook and Instagram for additional updates.
