Laredo-based fast-casual chain Taco Palenque is expanding its San Antonio footprint.

According to a recent construction permit application, the eatery is coming to 8743 TX-151, taking over a 58,833-square-foot warehouse space near establishments such as Chuy’s, Panera Bread, and Willie’s Grill & Icehouse.

What Now San Antonio reached out to Franchisee Javier Peresbarbosa to inquire about the expansion, but he was unable to provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, the filing provides further insight.

Taco Palenque plans to hire a Mission-based firm, CG5 Architect, to renovate the existing space for an estimated $5,000,000. Construction is slated to begin this August and be completed in August 2025.

For readers who are unfamiliar with the chain, Taco Palenque has been around since 1987 and is known for fast-casual Mexican food, or “Fresh Mex” as they like to call it. Menu options include tacos, quesadillas, plates — think enchiladas, fajitas, and flautas — burritos, parrilladas, antojitos, bowls, salads, soups, and desserts. The eatery is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Ever-expanding, Taco Palenque has opened over 33 outposts throughout Texas — and one in Monterrey.

An opening date for Taco Palenque on TX-151 has not yet been set. Stay tuned for updates.
