According to a recently submitted permit application, Taquería El Ranchero plans to renovate its location at 502 Porter — found near establishments such as Amanda Food Mart, Tacos El Jarocho Veracruzano, and the bar Tropicana.

What Now San Antonio spoke briefly with the concept’s owner, Gustavo Fernandez, who confirmed his plans to restore the restaurant, but could not provide additional information before publication.

Nevertheless, the filing offers further insight, disclosing that construction to add 560 square feet to the building is slated to begin on November 15 and finish on May 31, 2025 — costing an estimated $65,000 to complete.

How the renovations will affect Taquería El Ranchero’s hours of operation hasn’t yet been made clear. Stay tuned for updates.
