Tarka Indian Kitchen, a “local counter-serve chain dishing up Indian curries, kebabs & more,” is opening a new location in San Antonio — taking over a space in Wender Plaza at 9610 TX-151, Suite 107.
Moving into a suite formerly home to Ding Tea & Crumbs, the restaurant will soon neighbor establishments such as Chicken Salad Chick, Dave’s Hot Chicken, and Torchy’s Tacos.
For readers who are unfamiliar with the eatery, known for serving a “balance of curries, kabobs, biryanis, and freshly baked flatbreads,” Tarka Indian Kitchen has quickly gained popularity throughout the state — growing to over nine locations throughout Austin, San Antonio, Round Rock, and Houston since it was founded in 2009.
What Now San Antonio reached out to Tarka’s owner, Tinku Saini, to inquire about the forthcoming outpost, but he was unable to provide further information before publication.
Nevertheless, a recent construction permit application offers additional insight.
Being carried out by Glen Ridge, New Jersey-based firm SM Design and Consulting PC, renovations are slated to begin late this August and be finished by November — costing an estimated $450,000 in total.
