Terry Black’s Barbecue is on the move, and their moving not too far from some competition. MySA recently reported the big news that the famed BBQ joint will open at 1310 E. Common St. in New Braunfels, in the home of the former Los Cucos Mexican Restaurant.
The announcement solved the big mystery of what was to come in the location, as construction is currently underway. At this time, there is no timeline for the opening, but you can expect Terry Black’s Barbecue to make an announcement on its social media pages. If all goes well, I’m sure we will see the eatery open before the end of next year.
The family-run business began in 1932, when Edgar Black Sr. opened the original Black’s Barbecue in Lockhart. The Terry Black launched what is now known as Terry Black’s Barbecue with his twin sons, Mike and Mark, in Austin in 2014. This opening came a year after the family split with brother, Kent Black. The competition just steps away from the Terry Black’s Barbecue set to open in New Braunfels is, in fact, Black’s Barbecue.
Despite all of the family drama, the eatery has continued to bloom and boom. Opening in barbecue barbecue-obsessed area does help, but the proof is also in the pudding, or rather, smoky and delicious BBQ.
The restaurant dishes out everything from smoked meats, like sliced brisket, beef ribs, and turkey, by the pound, large and small family packs with a multitude of side options, including mac and cheese, cream corn, and Mexican rice.
Terry Black’s Barbecue is now operating five locations throughout Texas, including in Austin, Waco, and Dallas, with an additional location in Nashville, TN.
Although the excitement is already mounting for this mouth-watering BBQ opening, Terry Black Barbecue lovers will just have to wait because, again, there’s no timeline on the opening.
