According to MySA, the restaurateurs behind A Sweet Spot in New Braunfels are readying to debut a new concept in the city.
Coming to 173 S. Seguin Avenue, The Cake Bar & Coffee Co. will land near establishments such as Alpine Haus Restaurant, Krause’s Cafe, and New Braunfels Coffee.
“At The Sweet Spot, we took a lot of the items that we used to make at our food truck and just transitioned to a brick-and-mortar, but with this concept, we wanted to bring something different,” shares the concept’s owner, Debbie De La Cruz.
She adds, “New Braunfels is a little bit of a different audience… There are going to be a lot more locals and tourists coming to the area.”
The Journal shares that “customers will choose from a cake, cookie, brownie or cheesecake base and build the slice down the assembly line.”
“A lot of times, when you go somewhere with a group of people or you buy a cake, it’s one flavor — It’s either we’re all going to do vanilla or we’re all going to do chocolate,” De La Cruz tells the Journal. “You have that one person in the group that wants carrot cake or something. So this is a way to tailor your dessert to your liking.”
“It’s fun, it’s nerve-wracking and it’s overwhelming, kind of all at the same time,” she continues. “But once it’s all said and done, we kind of just step back and look at what we’ve done, what we’ve created, and we’re really proud of how far we’ve come.”
Concerning an opening date, she tells What Now San Antonio, “We’re hoping for mid-April.”
