New Braunfels’ The Faust Hotel, an “old-world hotel dating from 1929,” hopes to reopen its restaurant and bar late this year.
Located at 240 S Seguin Avenue — just one mile from Schlitterbahn and a short walk from the New Braunfels Convention Center — the hotel has become a popular place for visitors from all over the country to stay.
However, since mid-January, The Faust’s dining and drinking areas have been closed for renovations.
Codi Weaver, the manager of The Faust Hotel, tells What Now San Antonio that the changes were prompted by an ownership change in May 2022.
According to Weaver, the previous owner, Vance Hinton, operated a brewery called Faust Brewing Company out of the hotel. After selling, he relocated Faust Brewing, leaving the kitchen in need of a complete renovation.
The new owners, Andy and Bonnie Duettra, plan to embrace the opportunity by creating more space and “brightening it up.”
According to a recent construction permit application, the pair intend to push back the bar and add a skylight as well as an additional entry point — costing an estimated $1,000,000 in total.
Weaver shares that the Duettras are meeting with contractors this week, and The Faust Hotel’s restaurant and bar are slated to, hopefully, open before the end of the year.
