American fast food chain Wienerschnitzel plans to debut a new outpost in San Antonio, according to a recently submitted permit application.

Taking over Suite 101 at Waters Edge Retail Center — found at 8302 Waters Edge — the eatery will land near establishments such as Acadiana Cafe, Jack in the Box, and the Westlakes Village Shopping Center.

Public records show that renovations to the existing 1,778-square-foot space will begin on December 1 and finish in December 2024 and will cost an estimated $600,000 in total — with local firm Stephen J. Kramer Architecture + Design, Inc. carrying out the project.

Additionally, the outpost will include a drive-thru.

For readers unfamiliar with the concept, Wienerschnitzel was founded in 1961 in Southern California and “has grown to be the world’s largest hot dog chain, serving more than 120 million hot dogs a year,” according to its website. Despite the name, the company does not ordinarily sell Wiener schnitzel.

An opening date has not been announced yet, so follow Wienerschnitzel on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
