San Diego Opera Sets the Stage for 2026 Season

San Diego Opera’s 2026 season highlights three main productions spread across the year. The Barber of Seville opened the season from February 13 to February 15, 2026.

According to social media, the team behind the opera shared, “From Bugs Bunny’s Rabbit of Seville to Tom and Jerry, Seinfeld, Mrs. Doubtfire, and beyond, Rossini’s Barber of Seville has been delighting audiences for over 200 years.”

Carmen will run from March 27 to March 29, 2026, bringing one of opera’s most popular stories back to the stage. It follows the story of a free-spirited woman whose charm draws in the soldier Don José, leading him to abandon his duties.

Another highlight of this year’s lineup is Opera Ball for All. The event, titled “Noche Sevillana. ¡Olé!” will be hosted on May 2, 2026. The Spanish-themed evening will celebrate the company’s 61st season.

Opera Ball for All will take place at Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa. The event will offer a lively night with tapas, dinner, live operatic performances, dancing, and an afterparty. The ball event will also honor Sarah B. Marsh-Rebelo and John Rebelo while supporting the organization’s learning and engagement programs.

Fellow Travelers, which is scheduled for July 10 to July 12, 2026. It is based on Thomas Mallon’s novel. The story follows Timothy Laughlin, a young graduate who moves to Washington, DC, during the 1950s to fight communism.
