Violations Found During the Health Inspection
Major violations at Villa Nueva Bakery showed serious health and food safety issues. During the inspection, vermin infestation was observed at the facility. It was not completely vermin-proof, which allowed the entry of rodents and insects.
The inspecting officer found that the food in the facility was not stored properly. There were chances of it being adulterated and contaminated either intentionally or unintentionally. As per the food safety code, no employee shall commit any act that may result in the contamination or adulteration of food. Food shall be protected from unsafe or unapproved food additives and colors.
The report also mentions that food holding temperatures were not maintained as per the required standards. Food storage conditions were out of compliance, as cooked and raw food items were not stored separately.
During the inspection, nonfood contact surfaces were found to have dust and grease accumulation. Many utensils in the kitchen were not operational and needed to be repaired. The mechanical exhaust and ventilating equipment were found missing. The violations were strong enough to cause health risks in the community, so the bakery was ordered to close.
The bakery can open again after it passes reinspection. The date for this has not been announced yet. They will, however, need to fix all the issues before then. Their compliance status will be verified during the reinspection.
