Quality Taste Pot, located in Mira Mesa, serves Chinese hot pots and other grilled dishes. This family restaurant is open throughout the week. Cantonese cuisine, high chairs, and vegetarian options are also offered to diners.
A routine health inspection conducted at several San Diego restaurants on April 7 revealed safety lapses at one Chinese eatery. Many major, minor, and out-of-compliance violations were unveiled.
What Was Observed During Health Inspection?
Minor violations, such as improper handwashing facilities and unclean food contact surfaces, were found at the food outlet during the inspection. The inspecting officer noticed that the handwashing sink was obstructed and inaccessible. Equipment and utensils were found unclean when the officer saw and touched them.
It was observed that pooled eggs were held at temperatures between 50°F and 130°F instead of the standard temperature. Food was not stored in safe conditions. It was found to be adulterated. Ice used to cool the exterior of food items was later used for consumption, which is a violation of food safety practices.
Vermin infestation was one of the gravest issues observed by the officer during the inspection. The food facility needs to ensure that everything remains clean and vermin-free. Animals and pets should be kept away from the restaurant.
During the inspection, it was noted that good retail practices are not followed by Quality Taste Pot restaurant. Raw meat was not kept properly separated from other food items. The condition of the floor, walls, and ceiling was also not in compliance with expected standards.
The inspecting officer mentioned in the report that mechanical exhaust ventilation equipment was not provided over all cooking equipment. The restaurant is instructed to install exhaust hoods. Wet wiping cloths were not stored in sanitizing solution as required.
The inspecting officer from the health department of San Diego did not give any score or grade to the outlet. The restaurant will have to resolve all the shortcomings before a re-inspection is conducted so that it can be allowed to operate again.
