Pho Minh and Porkyland were two restaurants that were found to be non-compliant with the expected guidelines and had to cease operations.

Two Restaurants in San Diego Underperformed in Health Inspections
The Department of Environmental Health and Quality conducted routine health inspections at food establishments last week. On Thursday and Friday, two restaurants were found to have imminent health hazards. One of them was a Vietnamese restaurant, while the other was a Mexican Grill.
Pho Minh Closed for Violations

“Pho Minh is known locally for its Vietnamese dishes and catering services. It is one of the few award-winning restaurants that serves authentic Vietnamese cuisine in the county. Cha Gio Heo, Pho Tai Bo Vien, and Bun Rieu are some of their most celebrated menu items. The restaurant underwent a routine health inspection on Friday. The following violations were observed during the inspection:
- Vermin infestation in the facility.
- Food items were being thawed at room temperature.
- Nonfood contact surfaces had grease accumulation.
- Hazardous chemicals were stored next to food items.
- The facility lacked a mechanical exhaust ventilation system.
- Broken tiles and a damaged floor were observed.
Porkyland Had Food Safety Risk Factors

Porkyland serves Mexican delights to the people of San Diego. Made from the finest ingredients, this restaurant is known for its jumbo burritos and quesadillas. However, last Thursday, the restaurant failed a routine health inspection, and the following food safety lapses were observed at the outlet:
- Food holding temperatures were not as per the expected standards.
- Lack of proper cooling facilities for cold storage.
- Presence of insects and rodents within the food prep area.
- Warewashing facilities were out of compliance.
- Equipment and cleaning cloths were stored inappropriately within the kitchen area.
- The premises were not clean and vermin-proofed as per the state guidelines.
Both restaurants have been closed temporarily to address the food safety issues. It is expected that a reinspection will be conducted at the outlets before they are allowed to reopen to ensure correct compliance status.
