A routine health inspection was conducted at the restaurant, in which Multiple violations of the food safety code were observed. The inspecting officer cited the violations in the report and announced a temporary closure until further notice.

African Spice Sambusa Failed the Re-inspection

A status verification inspection was conducted at the restaurant on April 2, 2025, and no violations were observed. In a re-inspection conducted on April 8, the restaurant was found to have food safety shortcomings. The officials decided to order a temporary closure until rectifications are made.

As per the report, violations observed by the inspecting officer at the restaurant were:

  • Vermin infestation
  • Unclean and unsterilized food contact surfaces
  • The cleanliness of nonfood contact surfaces was out of compliance with standards
  • Unpleasant and dusty conditions on the floors, walls, and ceilings
  • Toilet facilities were not in compliance with good retail practices

These health inspections are conducted periodically to control the spread of food pathogens. Both restaurants now need to eliminate each violation. Details regarding follow-up inspections have not yet been announced. But once the restaurants undergo and pass the re-inspection, they will be allowed to operate again.
