Better Buzz Coffee will not slow down its expansion within San Diego; this time, it submitted documentation to open a new location in Escondido at 1202 E Valley Parkway.
The company recently submitted paperwork to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality to open in a vacant plot of land that was once the former home of T-Mobile in the Trafalgar Square Shopping Center. It’s unclear when this location will open, as it’s still in the early stages of development. While the timeline for this opening is unknown, there are some more updates for the other Better Buzz sites that are opening throughout San Diego. Previously, What Now San Diego reported on a company interested in a site in Rancho Penasquitos, although the confirmation had not been received from the company. This site is currently pending an inspection, according to city documents. An additional site in Vista is also pending an inspection.
Another new development from the company since the last reporting is the departure of former COO Paul Nishiyama, who joined Yoshinoya America as president effective June 1. Yoshinoya, which aims to expand its U.S. presence after a slight decline from 106 stores in 2021 to 100 in 2024, is seeking to capitalize on the growing interest in bowl-based fast-casual dining and the momentum behind Asian food concepts. With approximately 100 locations in California and over 2,000 worldwide, the brand is positioning itself for renewed growth. Nishiyama’s departure is expected to prompt some leadership adjustments at Better Buzz as the company continues its strong expansion trajectory.
Better Buzz Coffee Roasters is poised for significant growth in 2025, with plans to double its store count from 24 to 48 locations by June of next year. Building on momentum from early 2024, including a record-breaking debut in Phoenix, Arizona, the company is preparing to open 12 more stores, with expansions planned in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Southern California. In addition to geographic growth, Better Buzz is expanding its product lineup with the launch of Buzz Energy drinks, now available at all locations. These moves reflect the company’s long-term strategy to solidify its presence across key Western markets and position itself for continued success in the year ahead.
