The owner of Pizza Bosforo is getting ready to expand his empire with a new European concept: Bosforo Restaurant & Bar, located at 3201 Adams Ave in Normal Heights.

This is the latest from chef Seckin Sage Anlasbay, who moved to San Diego from the Çukurova region of southern Turkey in 2011 and since opened Pizza Bosforo, a mobile catering company, according to San Diego Magazine. Now, the chef is getting ready to open Bosforo Restaurant & Bar in the former home of El Zarape Mexican Cantina, which was evicted from its longtime space earlier this year. Opening in January 2025, the restaurant will feature modern Turkish and Italian cuisine and wood-fired pizza.

When the new restaurant opens at the beginning of the year, residents of Normal Heights will have a lot to look forward to. In addition to the delicious European food that will be served, including charcoal-fired kebabs, a variety of Turkish mezze, and flatbreads, Bosforo Restaurant & Bar will also have cocktails, live music, and raki, a traditional Turkish spirit.

This is a massive achievement for Seckin, who still operates Pizza Bosforo, offering artisan wood-fired pizza. Bosforo Restaurant & Bar will be his first brick-and-mortar and will be an excellent spot for him to showcase his skills as a chef and his European roots. While much of the logos, branding, and designs are still in the works while the space is under renovation, the new restaurant will bring new flavors and a taste of different cultures to Normal Heights.
