Buon Cibo Italian Specialties, a brand new Italian deli, specialty market, bar, and eatery, is preparing to debut next year in Scripps Ranch at 10380 Spring Canyon Road.
This new concept is the latest from Tom Tarantino, who opened RoVino in Little Italy in 2016 with Antonia Buono and Vincenzo Bruno, according to SanDiegoVille. Tarantino will now create his own concept, opening next year in LIVIA at Scripps Ranch. When it opens, customers can expect an authentic Italian deli, sandwiches that transport them to Italy, ready-made meals, house-made salads, specialty ravioli, imported salumi, artisan bread and desserts, and plenty of wine from around the world.
“From our show-stopping 8″ sandwiches (because yes, size does matter) to our carefully curated selection of imported delicacies, every offering at Buon Cibo is a tribute to our roots and a nod to the future of Italian cuisine in America,” according to the company’s website. “At Buon Cibo, we’re not just serving food—we’re serving history, passion, and a slice of the good life. Because here, good food always equals good mood. Benvenuti!
This concept has a lot of history behind it, starting with the Tarantino family, when Pietro Tarantino and Gaetano D’Acquisto set sail for San Diego in the early 1900s, according to the company’s website. These intrepid Sicilian fishermen didn’t just bring their nets; they carried the rich culinary traditions that would eventually give birth to Buon Cibo. Now, the Italian concept is getting closer to becoming a reality, with owners encouraging guests to sign up for more details on a grand opening date, which will include special discounts on Italian products, invitations to VIP tasting events, and more.
“Fast forward to today, where Tom Tarantino, grandson of these pioneering spirits, has transformed his family’s passion for authentic Italian fare into San Diego’s newest culinary destination,” the website continues. “Buon Cibo—”good food” in Italian—is more than just a specialty store and deli. It’s where time-honored recipes meet modern innovation, where the warmth of a Sicilian kitchen embraces the cool California vibe.”
