Carlsbad City Council has approved plans for Chick-Fil-A to build a new location in North County. The fast food chicken experts will tear down a 10,000-square-foot office building on Avenida Encinas to make way for their new 3,932-square-foot restaurant.

According to a report by The Coast News, the City of Carlsbad approved the spot with some unique restrictions per their city regulations. The new location will come sans drive-thru, unlike its spots in nearby Oceanside or Encinitas.

Immediate concerns by locals relate to traffic, with the estimated amount of customers flocking to the new site. In response, the city has agreed that additional traffic signals and crosswalks will need to be installed before the location opens.

Chick-Fil-A’s new spot will settle off of Palomar Airport Road and I-5, neighboring an In-N-Out Burger and Draft Republic and will serve many nearby commercial and industrial office parks.

Plans state that construction is expected to begin by Summer 2022 and is projected to open by Winter 2023, creating at least 100 new jobs. Chick-Fil-A currently operates 16 locations within San Diego County.
