Dark Horse Coffee Roasters, a local coffee company with seven sites in San Diego and one in Hawaii, is preparing to open a new location in Hillcrest at 3752 Park Boulevard, Suite #104C.
The company’s eighth area location is set to move into the former home of HOB Coffee on Park, according to a recent submission to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. It’s unclear when this Dark Horse Coffee Roasters will open, but the company’s application is still being reviewed. When it opens, customers can expect the same delicious coffee and light bites featured at the company’s other locations. At these sites, and online, fans of the brand can also order various instant coffees, merchandise, gift cards, and more.
Founded in 2013, Dark Horse Coffee Roasters has become a key player in San Diego’s coffee scene, known for its direct-trade coffee and focus on quality. Their menu includes popular drinks like the “Champ,” Honey Cinnamon Latte, cold brew, and specialty options like Matcha Lattes and Dirty Chai. They also offer breakfast items, including Liege-style waffles and vegan donuts. Dark Horse has built a strong community following with its commitment to excellent coffee and customer experience. The new Hillcrest location will feature the same welcoming experience.
“We believe that coffee is all about relationships – from the farmers who grow our beans to the customers who enjoy our coffee each morning,” according to the company’s website. “We take pride in sourcing our direct-trade coffees and cultivating close relationships with our smallholder farmers worldwide. Our journey began in 2013 when we started roasting and serving cold brew in a small San Diego neighborhood. Since then, we’ve expanded to locations across San Diego, in Orange County, and Koloa on the Southside of Kaua’i. We invite you to try our signature Espresso drink “The Champ” or our Cold Brew on Nitro with a splash of our homemade vanilla bean syrup.”
