The team behind Golden Island Restaurant in Mira Mesa has plans to upgrade the former Crystal Palace Banquet Hall in the El Cerrito neighborhood. The event space will be reintroduced as Diamond Palace in its next iteration.

Eater first reported the 15,000-square-foot property will be renovated with an elevated design to bring back banquets and special events to the site. Plans for Diamond Palace include two stages, dance floors, and capacity for 700 guests to attend private events.

Outside of event bookings, Diamond Palace will operate as a restaurant and will carry over Golden Island’s authentic Chinese cuisine. Golden Island spotlights a wide selection of dim sum, plus seafood and roast dishes.

Owner John H Tram tells What Now San Diego they hope to complete renovations at Diamond Palace by Summer 2022. Once they have finalized the permitting process, they will begin opening up their booking schedule to event requests in the newly stylized hall.
