Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet, a Texas-based halal buffet restaurant specializing in Mediterranean cuisine, plans to open a new location in Oceanside at 2655 Vista Way.

The company’s first San Diego location, and third in California, is set to replace Romano’s Macaroni Grill, according to documentation to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality. Owner Sam Khader tells What Now San Diego that he and his team plan to open the Oceanside location in the first half of 2026. An exact opening date has not been confirmed at this time.

The restaurant will feature an all-day buffet with a wide range of Mediterranean dishes, including hummus, falafel, beef and chicken kabobs, stuffed grape leaves, and baklava. Dimassi’s also offers vegan and gluten-free options, catering to various dietary preferences while maintaining its focus on fresh ingredients and halal preparation standards.

Founded in 1992, Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet is a family-owned business that has experienced steady growth over the years. While this will be its first location in the San Diego market, the brand already operates in multiple cities across Texas as well as in Anaheim and Cerritos in Southern California. The company emphasizes quality, authenticity, and accessibility as it expands into new regions.

Oceanside is an excellent choice for Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet to launch its first location in the San Diego area. The spot on Vista Way offers strong visibility and steady traffic, particularly since it occupies a well-known former restaurant space. The city’s diverse and growing community is a good fit for Dimassi’s focus on fresh, healthy Mediterranean food. With its all-day buffet and extensive menu options, the restaurant is likely to appeal to a diverse audience. Additionally, the location is easily accessible from nearby neighborhoods, shopping centers, and main roads, making it a convenient dining option.
