Fat Tuesday, the national frozen cocktail chain known for its presence in party destinations like Bourbon Street, Miami Beach, and the Vegas Strip, is officially expanding to California with a flagship opening in San Diego at 618 Fifth Ave.
The new location will replace Henry’s Pub after 25 years in the Gaslamp Quarter, which closed its doors this past weekend. The San Diego location is expected to open in mid-to-late June 2025, with the brand aiming for the third week of June, though no exact date has been announced. The 3,600-square-foot space will be the brand’s largest and most immersive concept. A representative from the company tells What Now San Diego that this site would be corporate-owned. Garnett Station Partners, a New York-based principal investment firm, owns Fat Tuesday.
“People have been begging us to come to California for years, and San Diego was the perfect place for us to bring the party,” Alex Monahan, CEO of Fat Tuesday, said in a news release sent to What Now Media Group. “This spot takes everything people love about the brand and takes it to a new level. It’s our biggest, boldest location yet, and we think it’s going to be a fan favorite.”
The new flagship will operate with a day-to-night format. During the day, it will function as a family-friendly lunch spot and sports hub with 30 TVs. At night, the venue will shift into a nightlife setting with a DJ or live band, frozen cocktails, bottle service, and late-night specials until 2 a.m.
The larger format has an expanded menu featuring a full kitchen serving signature pizzas, wet or dry-rubbed wings, handhelds, and shareable bar bites. The full bar will offer 10 frozen cocktail flavors, fan-favorite combos, specialty and classic cocktails, beer on draft and in bottles, and a complete liquor selection. The location will also feature value-driven offerings such as combo meals, brunch hours, daily happy hours, and game-time deals.
The San Diego opening follows two other larger-format flagship launches in late 2024 and early 2025 — one in Tampa’s Ybor City and another in downtown Fort Lauderdale. The company says these new models have been successful in their respective markets and are part of a broader national expansion. In 2025, Fat Tuesday gained momentum through high-profile pop culture collaborations, including a Super Bowl weekend event with Cardi B and Whipshots and a national campaign with Kendall Jenner’s 818 Tequila.
