With locations in Pacific Beach and Liberty Station, Fig Tree Cafe has plans for a new spot in town.

Eater San Diego reports that another Fig Tree Cafe will be heading to Mission Valley to replace SanSai Japanese Grill on Hazard Center Drive.

Johan Engman, Founder and Chief Executive Office of Rise & Shine Hospitality Group, opened the first Fig Tree Cafe in 2008, and despite early hardships, opened the second location in 2011. After starting Breakfast Republic in North Park in 2015, which expanded to several more locations over the years, Engman plans to get back to Fig Tree Cafe with this next venture.

According to the website, the Fig Tree Cafe expansion will be coming soon.

Each Fig Tree Cafe is designed to fit the neighborhood niche and has a commitment to using homegrown rosemary and selecting produce and eggs from a family farm in Ramona. This spring’s specials include sweet pistachio crepes and rose lattes.

Engman could not be reached for comment in time of publication.
