Good Pressure Brewing, a new brewery from local beer industry veteran Erik Fowler and his wife Shannon Fowler, is set to open later this year at 7559 Mission Gorge Road in Allied Gardens.
The brewery will take over the former home of Poochie’s Hooch Urban Cidery, a 3,500-square-foot space with two outdoor patios, a cellar, a tasting room, and existing infrastructure for a kitchen, according to SD Beer News. Erik confirms with What Now San Diego that he and his wife hope to open the new concept in late 2025. Good Pressure plans to launch with a straightforward tap list focused on approachable beers, with additional offerings including wine and cider.
The brewery will initially rely on food trucks and aims to build out a kitchen-based food program over time. Fowler tells SD Beer News that their first-year production goal is approximately 750 barrels, with most of the beer being sold in the taproom or through limited distribution to nearby bars and restaurants.
While Good Pressure marks Fowler’s first personal venture, he brings more than 12 years of experience to the project. His past roles include serving as taproom lead for Stone Brewing, heading education at White Labs, managing distribution at ChuckAlek, and, most recently, leading the San Diego Brewers Guild as its Executive Director. He is a Certified Cicerone, BJCP beer judge, and graduate of SDSU’s Professional Certificate in the Business of Craft Beer program.
“After more than a decade working in and supporting the SD Beer industry, I’m excited to announce the opening of Good Pressure Brewing Co.! It’s always been my dream to open a brewery, and over the last year, my wife, Shannon Fowler, and I have put in the work to make it a reality. We’ve found the perfect location in San Diego, on Mission Gorge — great for serving San Diego proper, East County, and the surrounding neighborhoods. Right now, we hope to open by the end of the year, but there’s still work to do. While launching Good Pressure will be a big focus of mine over the next few months, I remain committed to the continued success of the San Diego Brewers Guild and the collective strength of our local brewing community. Follow Good Pressure Brewing to stay up to date, and make sure to visit goodpressurebrewing.com to sign up for our newsletter. Can’t wait to pour you a beer and share our journey!”
