The anticipation has been brewing for three years, waiting for the BBQ restaurant Grand Ole BBQ y Asado to return to their North Park roots. The team triumphantly announced via social media last week, “We are back!”

In 2019, Owner Andy Harris partnered with the hospitality group Social Syndicate to design an East County outpost. Social Syndicate venues include Wonderland in Ocean Beach, The Local, and Monarch Ocean Pub in Del Mar.

Grand Ole BBQ Flinn Springs launched to a hungry crowd, with digs set up with plentiful seating and a stage to host live bands. Meanwhile, the location in North Park went dormant with a promise of a remodel.

According to Eater, the initial plan was to reopen the original spot in the Spring of 2020. The remodel plans had promised a climate-controlled seating area, kitchen upgrade, and an expanded menu and bar, serving beer and wine. Only time will tell as Grand Ole BBQ y Asado rolls out their opening plans to the public.

For now, both locations are hiring kitchen staff and North Park will be host to a BBQ job fair. Grand Ole BBQ Y Asado is projected to reopen on 32nd and Thorn Streets in March 2022. Stay updated by following on Facebook
