Handel’s Ice Cream, the award-winning chain with over 100 irresistible ice cream flavors, is likely set to open before the end of the year.
According to the San Diego Department of Environmental Health and Quality, the beloved national chain, popularly known for producing ice cream fresh on-site daily since 1945, has a new location opening in San Diego, this time at 6765 Mira Mesa Blvd, Suite 149, where it will replace Starbucks. What Now reached out to the franchise owner, Travis Campbell, regarding the opening date; however, they have not yet responded at the time of publication.
The new location is set to deliver the same high-quality menu that has established the brand as a standout nationwide. Handel’s was founded by Alice Handel in the summer of 1945 in Youngstown, Ohio. Alice reportedly made ice cream using fresh fruit from her backyard garden and her own recipes, selling it out of her husband’s gasoline station.
She ran the single parlor for 40 years before the brand was purchased and expanded by Lenny Fisher, and it exploded into a beloved nationwide brand.
As the company continues to expand across the county, the new development proves Handel’s is still very much interested in expanding within San Diego.
