A new, self-proclaimed, first-ever coffee/ dog shop called Honney Doffee by Fantasias con Chocolate is preparing to debut in National City at 310B E 8th St.

The company is getting ready to make its debut in the heart of National City, sharing a building with Mujer Divina and the former home of Frutica Un Paraiso de Sabores, according to a recent permit application. Owner Jose Rivas tells What Now San Diego that they aim to open their doors in early spring but couldn’t provide an official opening date as they are awaiting the necessary permits to proceed. Once approved, Honney Doffee hopes to open in the next month or so.

When it opens, customers can expect a variety of high-quality coffee drinks and mouthwatering locally-made pastries for both dogs and their owners. The company uses ingredients such as chicken, oatmeal, and carrots for their dog cookies. Before opening a brick-and-mortar, the company has been showcasing its delicious treats via social media, giving excited customers a taste of what’s in store.

This will be a perfect location for the new dog-focused coffee shop, sitting in the former home of Barber & Beauty Shop. While the company will have to compete with a handful of other cafes in the area, including Mujer Divina in the same building, none of these are largely pet-focused as Honney Doffee will be. This will be an excellent place for anyone with a furry friend to visit after taking them on a walk at the nearby Kimball Park.
