Il Corallino, a new full-service Italian restaurant concept, is getting ready to open in San Diego at 1101 Scott Street.
The new restaurant is set to move into the former home of Pummarò Pizzeria and Ristorante, according to a recent liquor license application. Although an exact opening date has not been announced, the project is likely to open in 2026. Customers can expect a full-service dining experience rooted in Italian cuisine.
Il Corallino is a new concept from the Cesarina ownership team and members of the Cohn Restaurant Group. The group includes Niccolò Angius, Cesarina Mezzoni, and Giuseppe Capasso from Cesarina, as well as Michael Feinman from CRG. The collaboration brings together teams with experience in both independent neighborhood restaurants and large-scale hospitality projects across San Diego.
The Point Loma location marks a return to the neighborhood for the Cesarina team, which opened its namesake restaurant there in 2019 after years of selling fresh pasta at local farmers’ markets. The group also operates Elvira, a modern Roman restaurant and pizza bar that opened in Ocean Beach. The Angelo project, initially planned for a nearby site, had undergone several revisions before its liquor license was reassigned to Il Corallino.
The Scott Street property has already been acquired for Il Corallino, although renovation plans have not been publicly filed. The active liquor license transfer indicates ongoing progress as the team prepares to build out the new concept. With the site secured and planning underway, Il Corallino is positioned to join the neighborhood’s dining scene once doors are open.
