The owners behind Cesarina Restaurant in Point Loma are entering new territory in 2021. Not only do they have plans in the books to open a catering service, but also a fresh concept under the name of Angelo Pizza at 4160 Voltaire St.
Recent permit filings reveal that Niccolo Angius and Cesarina Mezzoni are taking on a new project under the name of Angelo Pizza LLC. While the Italian food restauranteurs have yet to comment on this new development, the Angelo Pizza business address appears to be just across the street from Cesarina’s primary location in Point Loma.
Cesarina Restaurant is named after Cesarina Mezzoni herself, the pastry chef of the establishment. Along with her husband Niccolo and their business partner, Giuseppe Capasso, this supergroup of Italian chefs has received widespread critical acclaim throughout San Diego.
As reported in a November press release, Cesarina is also planning to move their pastaficio off the premises, to increase fresh pasta production for catering purposes.
This new 1,100 square feet location will also include bakery and retail elements. Chef Mezzoni will be taking the lead on the bakery, “Le Torte di Cesarina,” which will sell Italian confections and cakes. The retail component will feature fresh pasta labeled with QR codes which customers can scan to access a virtual cooking class from Mezzoni herself.
